  20.     Sorry to change thread but I have been having some weird problems
  21. with an "old" V.FAST/V.32bis modem I was given. Of course no manuals 
  22. brand-name or anything like that. (If there is is a sock monster that eats 
  23. your socks from the washing machine then there must be a computer manual 
  24. monster that devours every manual in sight. 8-( ) The modem is an 
  25. external modem and I bought a full RS232 cable to connect to it. I can
  26. connect with trouble at 1200 but when I try any higher speed the modem 
  27. refuses to connect. I am trying to connect to a 9600 baud modem and it does 
  28. not help to set the speed. The host modem answers (lots of noise) and then 
  29. kermit fails with a "NO CARRIER" message. Should I use a null modem cable 
  30. instead? Any help will be appreciated.
